THUnion| A RFID based campus activity information system (prototype)

THUnion is a project that utilizing campus RFID cards to green our campus by replacing the paper used for 0.1 million posters, which equals to 15.6t standard coal, 700t water, 84 adult treesin 2012 for Tsinghua.
Therefore, I initiated and led a team developing web, smartphone app and RFID hardware integrated system for changing people's habit of get connected to activities.
It is supported by Prof. Li Zheng and Xinyu Zhang in Tsinghua Computer and Information Center. We won several medals and investment. (2012.9-2013.5)

In this project initiated by me, I gathered a team of 7 major member and we built a RFID info collector and a Cloud info web. In each event held on campus, we use a RFID based single-chip recorder to scan the event participants ID and then transmit the information onto Cloud through wifi. The event organizer and user then could review and organize the event info and interact through our web. I am fully in charge of the product structure design and implement the development with large volume reading of hardware and software, as well as customer behavior. This project brought me system level understanding of a technology product and experience of entrepreneurship. It seems the most important thing in my college life.

Engineering For Kid| Solar Thermal Heater and Used PC to help rural area kids

The ideas just come from a visit to rural area for volunteering teaching. Working as a team, we utilized their own engineering knowledge, invented the solar power heater for kids to have hot rice to eat at noon. And also we gathered used PC parts from graduates to rebuild new ones for the kids' learning.

This heater project is mainly a course design level project, we use thermodynamics and mechanical design with the help of mechanics in our lab to build the solar lunchbox heater. As for the PC rebuilding, we invited several senior undergraduate to help us and after we raised support from DELL, the re-building is outsourced to experienced workers in Zhongguan Cun.
The effect of media is amazing. I raised over $30K US dollar for improving there classroom and dining condition.

Reverse Engineered F-15 Airbrake| Mechanical Design Course Project

It is the course work of Mechanical Design for which the topic is Deployable Mechanism. Driven by the interest of exploring real mechanical design, we picked the already-have mechanism, F-15 air-brake and tried to reverse engineer it.
First, from limited pictures of F-15 air-brake, we estimated the apprearance roughly. Then by Matlab we simulated landing force-velocity, by Fluent we simulated airflow pressure load, we also calculated stress and chose the scale, and finally by SolidWork we 3D modeled the pipe and the body of the entire air-brake system.
Our team was awarded the highest mark in class for we are the only team performed the entire process of engineering design.

From the time I first have a glance of Scientific American Chinese Edition, I have been amazed by the power of technology and wishing to have it one day.
In high school, I thought I got the power since I could understand the equations and graphs better than others. I work on chemistry competition at that time.
After I entered Tsinghua, I was amazed by technology ecosystem, knowledge-technology-product-commerce. I am quite resolved to find out the most important chain and its connection with myself. For past three years, I looked at how investment could interact with technology through economic minor , I advocated the idea of Engineering for Rural Area Kids by producing a million-click clip, I also tried to bring my own product to savor the hi-tech entrepreneurship, and lastly I put my heart to be a good researcher. I found the most powerful and arresting part of technology is not to attract investment and make profit, nor to gain social reputation and impact, and not to accumulate knowledge, it is to bring knowledge into useful innovation.
Then where am I? I choose my future to be a combination, entrepreneurial scientist. I have to scan my interest and capability. I am interested in exploring the law beneath the nature, and I am capable to combine technology,design and commerce into innovation. An entrepreneurial scientist would be a good combination. I first to be a rigorous researcher and then put my research ability into innovation and products. After I found out the key, I am clear about what I am going to do. I am now interested in all the innovation and hi-tech.
